Marcus Cormier is an accomplished educator, researcher, and advocate with extensive experience in higher education, applied linguistics, and international education. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education at Tennessee Technological University, building on his academic foundation with a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration and a Master of Science in Applied Linguistics from East Texas A&M University. Marcus also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of New Orleans.
With a strong passion for internationalization, multilingualism, and educational technology, Marcus has dedicated his career to advancing global higher education policy, fostering academic access, and enhancing student retention and institutional effectiveness. His research expertise spans qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including survey design, thematic analysis, and statistical procedures.
Marcus has over five years of experience as a language instructor in Spain, South Korea, and Taiwan, where he developed and delivered research-informed curricula for multilingual learners across diverse education systems. He has also contributed to academic journals as a proofreader, copyeditor, and peer reviewer, ensuring high-quality scholarly publications.
An active member of the Linguistics Society of America and NAFSA: Association of International Educators, Marcus is committed to promoting intercultural communication and global engagement. He has shared his insights through invited talks, panels, and podcasts, addressing topics such as multilingualism, racial identity, and educational equity.
Marcus is proficient in English (native) and Spanish (C1) and possesses advanced skills in SPSS, Python, Qualtrics, and educational technology platforms. His dedication to fostering inclusive and effective education is evident in his professional service, research, and teaching contributions.
